11 hours ago, Technology has significantly impacted all sectors, including education. It has eased how learners can acquire information and learn without attending physical classroom sessions. For instance, students can seek information from internet sources, such as Google, instead of going to the library (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). However, in some countries, such as the Dominican Republic, where I was born, technology is not much developed in the education sector. I got most of my education in the late twentieth century when technology was not as developed as today. However, I currently benefit from technology because I get most of my learning resources from the internet. Moreover, distance learning has developed due to technological advancement in the education sector. Distance or online learning is a technique through which students can learn from their mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. It eliminates the need to learn in classrooms (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). Online or distance learning was common during the COVID-19 pandemic when most schools were closed to help control the spread of coronavirus. Despite the schools’ closure, learning continued since learners could meet teachers through online platforms and continue with the syllabus.
In addition, technology aids teachers’ instructional strategies and improves learning outcomes. Teachers use new teaching methods, such as audiovisuals, online textbooks, hybrid technology, learning management systems, and smart video cameras to facilitate teaching and learning. Technology has also reduced classroom paperwork because teachers and learners can use smart devices to share information and store notes (Raja & Nagasubramani, 2018). With technology, many students have completed multiple courses over short periods because of online learning. Several institutions provide online courses where students attend classes, do examinations, and graduate online. As a result, technology has improved educational attainment and lowered illiteracy levels.
