There is one integrative essay assigned for this course. You will write an-1800-word research essay, using APA format, (American Psychological Association [2019] [7th ed.]). You must use more than 5 academic sources, including at least 3 outside academic sources, to support your essay. Internet sources are not considered appropriate sources, excerpt for peer-reviewed articles
Based on your interests and passion, you choose a specific group, place, or system, such as BIPOC, homeless shelters, and the justice system, which is in great need of mercy/compassion. Then find and study a specific person (such as Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Jr., or Oscar Romero) who has mercifully/compassionately worked for your chosen group, place, or system to improve the quality of life of those involved. The essay has three parts:
Part I. Choose one specific group, place, or system. Explain why you have chosen that group, place, or system and why it is in great need of merciful/compassionate action. Describe what about it/them has moved you emotionally and what has happened to your emotions. Describe what mercy/compassion means for you, specifically concerning your chosen group, place, or system. Write anything else related to your chosen group, place, or system.
Part II. Choose one person who has mercifully/compassionately dedicated her/his life to bring a significant change to your chosen group, place, or system. Explain why you have chosen that person and her/his work. Describe how s/he has stood in solidarity with those on the margins and what kinds of efforts s/he has made to improve the quality of life of those most vulnerable. Describe how her/his merciful/compassionate service/action has touched and inspired you. Write anything else related to your chosen person.
Part III. Describe, based on what you have learned in Part I and II, what you can do for your chosen group, place, or system at this point in your life. Indicate what you want to learn more about your population. Explain how you can continue to carry on merciful/compassionate concerns and actions for your chosen group, place, or system.
