Please follow the instructions clearly.
DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING
1. STOP PUTTING “THE” in front of ethnic groups’ names. It is a form of othering.
ALWAYS CAPITALIZE INDIGENO S, ABORIGINAL, RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL(S), etc.
2. Stop using contractions.
title page should not be numbered.
it is a bibliography, not a reference page, not a works cited page.
3. USE CHICAGO FOOTNOTES and bibliographic citations.
4. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS INDIGENOUS CULTURE. Words such as culture, knowledge, language, tradition, etc., need to be pluralized when you are talking about Indigenous Peoples generally. For example, my people (nehiyaw or Plains Cree) did not have agriculture, so we did not plant the three sisters. We most likely traded for them, but we did not grow them. Another example is not everyone practiced potlatch or sun dance, so be specific or acknowledge there are differences by pluralizing words like culture, tradition, knowledge, etc.
